The Bletchley Girls

PAMELA ROSE, aged 103

Once a debutante, she trained to be an actress, appearing on the London stage. During the war she was recruited to work at Bletchley Park. Involved in many good causes, Pamela returned to the acting profession in her old age.

Vladimir Shatalov

VLADIMIR SHATALOV, aged 93

Shatalov survived the Siege of Leningrad as a child. He became a pilot in the Red Air Force before brilliantly manipulating his way into the Soviet Space Programme as a cosmonaut. He went into space on three occasions.

Inge and the TritoneKings

INGE GINSBERG, aged 99

After escaping the Holocaust, Inge fled over the mountains to become a spy, a songwriter, a poet and a trader on the stock exchange. She then became a Heavy Metal star, entering the Eurovision Song Contest.

Spirit of Gaia

JAMES WHARRAM, aged 93

James’ boat was a 23 feet long double canoe catamaran, called ‘Tangaroa’ and on the 27/9/55 he set off from Falmouth to sail the Atlantic Ocean to Trinidad. It was a journey full of incident!

Hubert Germain

HUBERT GERMAIN, aged 101

Hubert saw action in the Battle of Bir Hakeim and also in the Battle of El Alamein. He was made a Companion of the Order of Liberation and died in October 2021.

Tempest Storm

TEMPEST STORM, aged 93

Born Annie Blanche Banks in Eastman, Georgia she became the first millionaire stripper, changing her name to Tempest Storm, and retiring aged 67.
