A Belfast builder, he was also a brutal leader of the IRA, responsible for many murders. However, he was also a spy and informer for the British forces.

HUGH CALLAGHAN, aged 93

An Irish labourer living in Birmingham, he was accused of bombing two pubs. After cruel treatment, he spent years in prison until his innocence was proved.

PADDY HOPKIRK, aged 89

A brilliant rally driver from Northern Ireland, he was excommunicated from the Catholic church before winning the Monte Carlo Rally and appearing on the London stage. He bravely saved the life of a rival and won the MBE.
