BERNARD HEATH, aged 93

A pioneering cyclist who, with his wife, set about restoring bothies, making outdoor life more enjoyable for those that love the outdoor life.

BRIAN ROBINSON, aged 91

A joiner from Huddersfield, he represented GB at the 1952 Olympics before becoming the first British cyclist to complete the Tour de France and then win a stage. A pioneer for the later golden age of British cycling.

TED OATES, aged 101

Growing up in Huddersfield he joined the TA and the Army and had a dramatic escape through Belgium and France andwas part of the evacuation of Dunkirk. His story became the basis of a film.
