AGNES LABOR, aged 96

The first qualified black woman teacher in Leeds, she became an influential educator before moving into politics in her native country of Sierra Leone.

PATRICIA RUANNE, aged 77

She had exceptional dancing skills and became a Prima Ballerina at a young age. She worked closely with Nureyev and became a celebrated ballet teacher.

THERESA STEWART, aged 90

An Oxford graduate, she became a pioneering Labour Councillor in Birmingham – the only woman to lead the council. She was Mayor of the city but was hated by the right-wing press.
