A circus performer and tightrope walker who broke many records, performing daring and dangerous feats with no safety precautions -or no fear.

Part of the Drug Squad of the Metropolitan Police in the Swinging Sixties, he set out to arrest celebrities, but he was extremely corrupt and ended up in prison himself.

Fleeing Europe and the Nazis, she set up a photograph agency in London with her husband, which captured many famous images and supplied the world’s media.

MARILYN LOVELL, aged 93

Wife of an American astronaut, she hit the headlines when the Apollo 13 mission had to be aborted. The world watched her anguish and fear, suffering with her.

WEE WILLIE HARRIS, age 90

Britain’s first rock and roller. Diminutive with bright pink hair and an outrageous stage show – but he never had a hit. His backing singer became a major star.

COLIN GRAINGER, aged 89

A professional footballer from Yorkshire, he played for England and scored against Brazil, but had a second career as a singer, supporting the Beatles and making records.

PADDY HOPKIRK, aged 89

A brilliant rally driver from Northern Ireland, he was excommunicated from the Catholic church before winning the Monte Carlo Rally and appearing on the London stage. He bravely saved the life of a rival and won the MBE.
