Researching and reporting on the lives of some really interesting people (RIP)

MIKE BURROWS, aged 79

The greatest ever bike designer. He invented the recumbent bike, won GB an Olympic gold, led the Tour de France and starred in 2 tv shows.

BRIAN ROBINSON, aged 91

A joiner from Huddersfield, he represented GB at the 1952 Olympics before becoming the first British cyclist to complete the Tour de France and then win a stage. A pioneer for the later golden age of British cycling.

ROGER HASSENFORDER, aged 90

Known as the Crown Prince of Cycling, Roger survived an eventful childhood in the Alsace, but only just. He grew up to be one of cycling’s greatest names – and certainly the most eccentric.
