From ARP warden to ENSA magician, he entertained troops in WW2. He then became a TV and variety star and was the world’s oldest active magician.

BETTY PHARES, aged 97

A singer and dancer she entertained troops during the war and starred in films supporting The Three Stooges, before becoming a big band singer.

The Bletchley Girls

PAMELA ROSE, aged 103

Once a debutante, she trained to be an actress, appearing on the London stage. During the war she was recruited to work at Bletchley Park. Involved in many good causes, Pamela returned to the acting profession in her old age.
