Researching and reporting on the lives of some really interesting people (RIP)

ANNE INNIS DAGG, aged 91

A pioneer scientist in animal behaviour, famous researchers followed in her footsteps. She also fought prejudice in academic circles and broke down barriers.

ADELAIDE JOSEPH, aged 89

With her husband she fought apartheid in her native South Africa before being forced into exile. A friend of the Mandelas she continued the struggle in London.

JULIAN BAHULA, aged 85

An innovative jazz drummer, he became politically active and fled his native South Africa. In the UK, he raised awareness about Nelson Mandela’s imprisonment.

DOUG MOLLER, aged 89

He lived with his wife in the most primitive of conditions in rural Staffordshire and went to war with hikers, climbers, local authorities and the police.

SHEILA PAINE, aged 92

An artist who abandoned her studies for love, she became a world expert on embroidery after a family tragedy, travelling throughout the world’s dangerous places in search of new textiles.
