His father invented the pyjamas as we know them. He took over the family firm, selling luxury night ware to the rich and famous, being loved by his customers.

JUDY PERCIVAL, aged 100

A dancer whose husband went to war, so she set off to the jungles of Asia to find him. Later on, she was the wife of an MP and friend to the Prime Minister.

ELIZABETH SELBY, aged 96

Fleeing Europe and the Nazis, she set up a photograph agency in London with her husband, which captured many famous images and supplied the world’s media.

TREV HAYSOM, aged 81

Eleventh generation of a family of stone masons from Dorset, he was the world expert on Purbeck Marble. He worked on all the main cathedrals and many castles.

PEGGIE LYNCH, aged 97

Widowed with six young children, she became a Liverpool foster carer, helping hundreds of young babies. Her life was dedicated to helping young people.

JEAN ARGLES, aged 97

She worked as an SOE operative, running agents throughout the war and deciphering codes, as her sister worked with Bletchley Park and her father was in a POW camp.
