A working class girl from New York, she became a model working with leading photographers, appearing in top magazines having a career spanning three decades.

PETE WILKINSON, aged 78

Founder of Greenpeace, he was an environmentalist who protested about the dumping of nuclear waste and the slaughter of animals, and fought to save Antarctica.

JUDY PERCIVAL, aged 100

A dancer whose husband went to war, so she set off to the jungles of Asia to find him. Later on, she was the wife of an MP and friend to the Prime Minister.

CHRIS ‘SWAMPY’ GARRETT, aged 40

From the Isle of Man he volunteered in conflict zones, eventually becoming a non-combative bomb disposal expert in war torn Ukraine, costing him his life.

FAUJA SINGH, aged 114

After various personal tragedies, he took up long distance running aged 89, and went on to break many world records, including in the marathon.

SARAH MORLOK COTTON, aged 95

One of four identical quadruplets, their birth made national headlines. They became a singing and dancing group – but there was a dark, sinister backgroundstory.

JOHN FOX, aged 86

A lecturer who founded his own performing arts company he was renown for spectacular shows and pyrotechnics. He rejuvenated a town in Cumbria.

BRADFORD FREEMAN, aged 97

A farm boy from Mississippi, he fought with Easy Company throughout World War 2 and got severely injured. He was the last survivor of the Band of Brothers.

LADY SALLY ASPINALL, aged 80

An aristocratic model, after her first husband was killed she married a millionaire who owned a zoo – and looking after animals became her role in life.
